The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) is set to auction 527 kanals of land owned by Bahria Town in Tehsil Murree on March 5, 2026, to recover approximately Rs. 26 billion in unpaid income taxes for the tax years 2020 and 2022, according to sources.
The auction will take place at the Large Taxpayers Office (LTO) of the FBR in Islamabad. Authorities had initially scheduled the auction for February 16, but it was later postponed.
The move comes as part of the FBR’s efforts to recover outstanding tax liabilities from major entities. The 527-kanal property in Murree is considered a significant asset, and officials expect strong interest from potential buyers during the bidding process.
Tehsil Murree, a popular hill station region in Punjab, has long been a high-value real estate zone due to its tourism appeal and scenic location. The proposed auction could attract both private developers and investment groups seeking large-scale land acquisitions.
Officials have indicated that the proceeds from the sale will be directed toward settling Bahria Town’s outstanding income tax dues. The case underscores the FBR’s broader crackdown on tax defaulters and its efforts to strengthen revenue collection mechanisms.
Further details regarding eligibility criteria, reserve price, and bidding procedures are expected to be disclosed ahead of the auction date.
