Pakistan Gears Up to Host Women’s World Cup, PCB Announces Youth Development Plans

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi recently highlighted key initiatives aimed at strengthening cricket infrastructure and nurturing young talent across the country.

Naqvi attended the PCB Interschools Cricket Final at Naya Nazimabad Gymkhana Cricket Stadium in Karachi, where he interacted with players and distributed prizes to the winning team. He emphasized that the tournaments are designed to identify and develop emerging cricketers, ensuring a strong pipeline for national teams.

The PCB chief also revealed plans for a major upgrade of the National Stadium Karachi, which will begin immediately after the Pakistan Super League (PSL) concludes. Naqvi assured that the stadium will be reconstructed to surpass the quality of Lahore’s cricket grounds. He highlighted ongoing efforts to improve cricket facilities across Karachi and other cities, aiming to bring fans back to stadiums in large numbers.

In a significant announcement, Naqvi confirmed that Pakistan is actively preparing to host the Women’s World Cup. While discussions with the national team captain have not yet taken place, the PCB remains committed to creating world-class facilities for the tournament. He also reiterated that any engagement with India will occur strictly on terms of equality, maintaining Pakistan’s firm stance in international cricket diplomacy.

Naqvi’s visit to Karachi included careful coordination with airport and PAF authorities, arriving on a special aircraft at PAF Faisal Base. His presence at the Interschools Final underscores the government and PCB’s focus on grassroots cricket development, from school competitions to international tournaments.

With these initiatives, Pakistan aims to strengthen both domestic cricket infrastructure and its global profile, paving the way for major events like the Women’s World Cup and ensuring a steady flow of talented young players into the national teams.
