Rehnay Ki Jagah by Faisal Town

Home, a place that every person dreams about.  Everyone out there fantasizes about the idea of their own home. Though one may argue that the definition of what is considered an ideal home, varies from person to person.  For instance, for some, it is a place where they and their family live freely and happily and some might have the idea of something that is much more extravagant and lavish, with all the expensive and cutting-edge commodities. But at the end of the day, the idea remains the same. Each individual desires a place, which they can call their own. A place that is more than a bunch of concrete walls with a roof slapped on top of it. Something that holds a sentimental value and has an emotional attachment to it.

As is the case here, it can be seen in the ad which is produced by Faisal Town that the woman always wanted a house of their own. Though due to financial constraints they do have to let his idea go in exchange for a better future for their son if we shed even more light on the dialogues of her husband in particular. It is evident that they still wished that even though it is a feat that he wasn’t able to accomplish in his lifetime. He still hoped that his son will be able to make their lifelong dream a reality. Though unfortunately, he couldn’t live long enough to see his son achieve this but the wife i.e. the mother is able to.  It was such an emotional roller coaster for her because on one side, there is the lifelong dream of her husband.  On the other side, she has to leave behind the house in which they were living in. Though one may sit and think about what makes the choice so hard for her in the first place.  Anyone in their sane mind will opt for their own house in a well-developed society over a rented old house. But if you take into account that this old, rented house in discussion is the place where she spent the majority of her life, and is the place where she witnessed the initial days of her married life, to hearing the first cries of their newly born son, to witnessing the death and mourning of her beloved husband.

Then one gets to know why it’s hard to leave this place behind even though there is a utopia of her dreams for what she longed for. This also signifies even if one has a promised haven in front of them, they will have a hard time letting go of all of that.

The ad also shows the beautiful transition of the woman embracing her dream home with her family. She is reluctant to adapt to the new environment although on paper it was heaven she has dreamed of, giving her the freedom that she always longed for. She has grown accustomed and attached to all those traditions that she finds herself unfit for her new place which leads to a lingering sorrow.

Somehow, she let go of her nostalgic past welcoming the new life with an open mind. Rafay Rumi the director of the ad film, has beautifully shown three generations in five minutes ad, which is difficult to achieve as feat.
