General Fayyadh Bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, Chief of General Staff of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, met General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), during his visit to Joint Staff Headquarters in Rawalpindi. The high-level meeting underscored the growing strategic alignment between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia at a time of evolving regional and global security challenges.
Both sides discussed the shifting security landscape in the Middle East, South Asia and beyond, with a focus on strengthening mutual cooperation in defence, intelligence sharing and strategic coordination. The conversation reflected the long-standing military partnership between the two nations, built on shared goals of stability and regional peace.
The leadership also explored new avenues to enhance engagement between the armed forces of both countries. These discussions included expanding joint training programs, increasing operational collaboration and building mechanisms to address emerging security threats.
Gen Sahir Shamshad reaffirmed Pakistan’s enduring commitment to the territorial integrity of Saudi Arabia and the safety of Harmain al-Sharifain. He reiterated that Pakistan considers the defence of the Kingdom a cornerstone of its strategic policy, in line with decades of close military and diplomatic ties.
General Al-Ruwaili expressed appreciation for the professionalism, discipline and operational expertise of the Pakistan Armed Forces. He acknowledged Pakistan’s sacrifices in combating terrorism and the crucial role its armed forces have played in ensuring regional stability.
He also praised the CJCSC for his role in deepening the Pakistan–Saudi Arabia strategic framework, noting that recent engagements between both countries have helped advance defence diplomacy and military-to-military relations.
Earlier, upon his arrival, General Al-Ruwaili was welcomed with a Guard of Honour presented by a smartly turned-out tri-services contingent. The ceremony reflected the significance Pakistan places on its defence partnership with the Kingdom and the respect accorded to high-level military delegates.
The visit is seen as part of a broader effort to further consolidate defence cooperation, enhance strategic alignment and build lasting security collaboration between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. With both countries facing shared challenges, the meeting signals a continued commitment to working together for regional stability.
