Coordinated Decision-Making Essential to Sustain Economic Growth, Says PM Shehbaz Sharif

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has emphasized the need for cohesive and coordinated decision-making to support long-term economic growth, urging the swift integration of private-sector recommendations into a unified national industrial policy. He issued the directive while chairing a meeting of the private-sector committee on national industrial development in Islamabad on Friday.

The prime minister stated that Pakistan’s economic progress, job creation and higher income levels are closely linked to robust industrial development. He stressed that expert insights must be transformed into practical reforms without unnecessary delays.

During the meeting, private-sector representatives presented their proposals aimed at boosting industrial productivity and attracting investment. PM Shehbaz welcomed the detailed recommendations and underlined their importance in shaping Pakistan’s future industrial landscape.

He acknowledged the business community’s effort in preparing comprehensive proposals and said that after thorough evaluation, an actionable implementation plan would be formulated. He further instructed that these suggestions be aligned with inputs from other economic sectors and incorporated into the broader national policy framework.

The prime minister reiterated that improving the ease of doing business and encouraging investment remain top government priorities. He noted that the business community has consistently supported government policies during challenging economic periods and played a key role in helping the country stabilize.

By the grace of Allah, he said, Pakistan’s economic indicators have begun to improve, and the country is moving in a positive direction. However, he stressed the need for continued hard work to secure national development and maintain momentum.

A comparative analysis with regional economies was also shared during the briefing to highlight strategies for improving Pakistan’s industrial competitiveness.

The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Ahsan Iqbal, Jam Kamal Khan, Ahad Khan Cheema, Ali Pervaiz Malik, Advisor Muhammad Ali, Minister of State Bilal Azhar Kayani, Special Assistant Haroon Akhtar and members of the Industrial Working Group led by Saqib Shirazi.
