PLA’s 98th Anniversary Celebrated at GHQ with Emphasis on Regional Peace and Bilateral Strength
At an event commemorating the 98th founding anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) of China, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir praised the long-standing military and diplomatic partnership between Pakistan and China, referring to it as a beacon of stability and mutual respect.
Held at General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi, the ceremony featured a distinguished lineup, including Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong as the chief guest. Also present were Major General Wang Zhong, Defence Attaché of China, senior military personnel from Pakistan’s tri-services, and members of the Chinese embassy.
Field Marshal Munir lauded the historic and evolving role of the PLA in strengthening China’s sovereignty, national development, and technological prowess. He noted that the Pakistan-China relationship has endured global shifts, regional instability, and strategic rebalancing, yet remains solid and proactive.
Highlighting the growing security cooperation between the two nations, he described the partnership as “brotherhood forged in mutual trust and strategic necessity.” Munir also touched upon shared concerns over regional instability and terrorism, stating that coordinated defence efforts will remain a cornerstone of peace in South Asia.
In response, Ambassador Jiang Zaidong thanked the Pakistan Army for its hospitality and applauded the armed forces for their relentless efforts in combating extremism. He reaffirmed China’s strong diplomatic and military support for Pakistan, emphasizing that both countries will continue to act as guardians of regional harmony and shared development goals.
