A Major Step Towards Affordable Housing
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched the Apni Zameen Apna Ghar program to support low-income families by providing free 3-marla residential plots. Through the newly launched E-Portal, citizens can now apply easily online.
Under Phase 1, 2,000 plots will be distributed across 19 districts via 23 development schemes.
Eligibility Criteria for Applicants
To qualify for the program, applicants must fulfill the following:
- Permanent Residency: Must be a permanent Punjab resident with a valid CNIC.
- Local Applications Only: You can only apply for schemes within your own district.
- No Prior Ownership: Neither the applicant nor their immediate family should own a plot or home anywhere in Pakistan.
- Clean Record: Applicants must have no criminal history and must not be a bank defaulter.
- Truthful Declarations: False information will lead to disqualification.
Important Terms for Plot Allotment
- Construction Requirements: Construction must start within six months of possession and be completed within two years.
- Transfer Restrictions: No sale, lease, or transfer is permitted within five years.
- Non-Compliance Consequences: Violation of rules can result in cancellation and repossession by the Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA).
