Warm Welcome for the Turkish President in Islamabad
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received a grand welcome upon his arrival in Pakistan for a two-day official visit.
As his plane landed at Nur Khan Airbase, he was greeted by President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, along with key ministers and government officials.
Guard of Honour at PM House
A formal welcome ceremony was organized at the Prime Minister’s House, where PM Shehbaz Sharif personally received President Erdogan.
- A well-dressed military contingent presented a guard of honour to the Turkish leader.
- The national anthems of Pakistan and Türkiye were played as a symbol of diplomatic unity.
- Senior Pakistani officials, including First Lady Aseefa Bhutto, Deputy PM Ishaq Dar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, and Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, were in attendance.
Focus on Bilateral Cooperation & Economic Ties
The visit holds significant diplomatic and economic importance as President Erdogan and PM Shehbaz Sharif will co-chair the 7th Pakistan-Turkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council.
During the session, both countries will:
- Discuss key areas of economic collaboration, defense partnerships, and regional security.
- Sign a Joint Declaration along with several strategic agreements and MoUs to enhance cooperation.
- Engage in high-level bilateral meetings, with President Erdogan also meeting President Zardari separately.
- Address the Pakistan-Turkiye Business and Investment Forum, a gathering of top investors and corporate leaders from both nations.
The visit marks a significant step in deepening diplomatic and economic relations between Pakistan and Türkiye.
