Prime Minister Calls for Accountability

In the wake of the tragic boat capsizing incident in Greece, which claimed the lives of numerous Pakistani nationals, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed authorities to take swift and decisive action against human trafficking networks.

Repeat Tragedies Highlight Ineffective Measures

PM Sharif expressed frustration over the recurrence of such tragedies, recalling the loss of 262 Pakistani lives in a similar incident last year. He criticized the slow response in holding traffickers accountable, urging for immediate corrective actions to prevent further loss of life.

Integrated Border Management System to Bolster Oversight

To tackle illegal migration effectively, the prime minister ordered the implementation of the Integrated Border Management System (IBMS). This system aims to enhance the tracking of international travelers and disrupt trafficking operations at their roots.

Legal Actions and Progress Review

Officials informed the premier that 174 individuals involved in human trafficking had been prosecuted, with four receiving convictions. However, the PM demanded detailed reports on these cases and sought updates on measures being taken to ensure stronger deterrents.

Focus on Public Awareness

The prime minister emphasized the importance of educating the public about the dangers and consequences of illegal migration. He called for intensified awareness campaigns led by the FIA and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to protect vulnerable citizens.
