A Brazilian woman was arrested by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, after being caught with 1.396 kilograms of cocaine worth Rs13.9 million, hidden in her luggage. This marks another success in Pakistan’s ongoing battle against drug trafficking.
Details of the Arrest
The suspect arrived in Karachi on a private airline, concealing the drugs in plastic bags within her belongings. ANF personnel, acting on intelligence, conducted a thorough search and uncovered the illicit cargo. The woman has been charged under the Anti-Narcotics Act, with further investigations aimed at uncovering her network.
Recent Anti-Narcotics Operations
This arrest follows a similar incident in October 2024, where Iqbal Hussain was apprehended at Peshawar Airport for attempting to smuggle 1.210 kilograms of ICE (crystal methamphetamine). The drugs were cleverly hidden in the inner linings of his bags and disguised as sweets.
Additionally, ASF personnel foiled another smuggling attempt at the same airport, recovering 2.376 kilograms of ICE from two passengers. The individuals and the drugs were handed over to the ANF for further legal action.
Strengthening Counter-Narcotics Measures
Pakistan’s airports are becoming key battlegrounds in the fight against narcotics trafficking. The ANF has implemented stringent measures, including advanced scanning systems, intelligence-led operations, and targeted inspections.
These efforts reflect the country’s unwavering commitment to tackling the global drug trade, ensuring that traffickers are brought to justice and narcotics are kept off the streets.
