The Pakistan Telecommunications Authority (PTA) has conducted raids against illegal internet service providers (ISPs) in Samundri, Khiderwala, and Mureedwala, in partnership with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
During the raids, two individuals were apprehended and illegal ISP equipment was seized, including an unlawful wireless point-to-point (P2P) link or antenna.
The PTA attributed the success of the raids to their ongoing monitoring, unwavering commitment, and persistent efforts to combat the problem of unlawful internet services. These actions are aimed at reducing financial losses to the national treasury due to tax evasion and inaccurate revenue reporting.
The PTA also emphasized the importance of obtaining telecom services exclusively from PTA-licensed operators to prevent any abrupt service interruptions.
The raids are a positive step by the PTA to crack down on illegal ISPs. Illegal ISPs often provide low-quality services and can be a security risk for users. They also deprive the government of tax revenue.
By obtaining telecom services from PTA-licensed operators, users can ensure that they are getting high-quality services and that their data is secure. They can also be confident that they are supporting the government and the economy.
