Former Australian cricketer Greg Chappell has made his predictions regarding the semi-finalists of the upcoming International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, scheduled to take place in India later this year.
In a recent discussion with RevSportz, Chappell shared his foresight that Pakistan, India, Australia, and England are the teams likely to secure spots in the tournament’s semi-finals.
Addressing the tournament’s location in India, Chappell commented, “With this regard, it’s in India at the moment. I think the four teams to watch for me, India obviously, Australia, England, and Pakistan, probably the four best teams. But then the other Asian teams come into their own because it is in India, but I will stick to those four at this stage.”
It is important to note that ten teams will fiercely compete for the coveted title across ten venues from October 5 to November 19. The inaugural match and the final of the tournament are scheduled to be held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The Cricket World Cup will adopt the round-robin format, facilitating each team’s encounter with all others, culminating in a total of 45 league matches.
The top four teams emerging from the league matches will advance to the semi-finals. These crucial matches are set to occur in Mumbai on November 15 and in Kolkata on November 16. Both the semi-finals and the final will include reserve days as a precaution.
