Visit to Kasur and Multan Flood Zones

Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited flood-hit areas of Kasur and Jalalpur Pirwala in Multan to review ongoing relief and rescue operations. His visit focused on assessing the scale of devastation and ensuring better coordination between the Pakistan Army and the civil administration to provide effective assistance to affected families.

According to an ISPR statement, the COAS was briefed in detail about the damage caused by floods, ongoing rescue missions, and relief activities. The briefing was attended by the Chief Secretary Punjab along with senior civil officers.

Call for Flood Protection Infrastructure

During his visit, Field Marshal Asim Munir stressed the urgent need for flood protection infrastructure projects to be completed without delays. He emphasized that Pakistan cannot afford to lose lives and properties every year due to weak preparations and poor governance.

Highlighting the importance of sustainable development, he called for a people-focused approach that prioritizes community safety and resilience against natural disasters.

Assurances to Affected Families

The Army Chief personally met with flood affectees who had been evacuated by the Army and civil administration. He assured them of the Pakistan Army’s continued support in their rehabilitation and resettlement. Affected families expressed gratitude for the Army’s timely response, which saved lives and reduced suffering during the crisis.

Commendation of Relief Teams

Field Marshal Asim Munir also interacted with Army personnel, Rescue 1122 teams, and police officials engaged in relief operations. He commended their high morale, dedication, and teamwork, noting that their joint efforts with the civil administration demonstrated a true spirit of service to the nation.

The COAS later conducted an aerial reconnaissance of the flood-affected regions along the Lahore-Kasur and Multan-Jalalpur Pirwala belt to get a clearer picture of the disaster’s impact.

Upon arrival, he was received by the Corps Commanders of Lahore and Multan, who accompanied him during the visit.
