Traffic Plan Announced for New Underpass Construction in Islamabad

Islamabad Police have announced a comprehensive traffic management plan in response to ongoing construction work at the Margalla Enclave underpass on Park Road. The advisory has been issued to inform motorists about temporary route changes and to minimize inconvenience during the development phase of this key infrastructure project.

According to officials, the construction activity may lead to traffic congestion and delays, particularly during peak hours. Motorists have been urged to plan their journeys in advance and follow the designated diversion routes to ensure smoother traffic flow and avoid unnecessary bottlenecks.

As per the traffic advisory, vehicles traveling from Rawal Dam Chowk toward Taramari will not be able to use Park Road directly during the construction period. Instead, commuters will be diverted through NIH Road. From there, traffic will pass via Mohra Noor before rejoining Park Road at the designated point.

Authorities have stated that this diversion has been planned to reduce pressure on the main construction zone and to allow uninterrupted progress on the underpass project. Traffic wardens will be deployed along the alternative route to guide drivers and manage vehicle movement effectively.

For motorists heading in the opposite direction, from Taramari toward Rawal Dam Chowk, a separate diversion has been arranged. Vehicles will be routed through Chai Khana and CDA Nursery before accessing two temporary roads constructed alongside the iron grill. These roads will allow traffic to merge back onto Park Road safely.

Islamabad Police have emphasized that these temporary arrangements are designed to balance commuter convenience with construction needs. Clear signage has been installed along diversion points to help drivers navigate the revised routes without confusion.

Officials have also advised commuters to avoid the affected area where possible, especially during rush hours, and to consider alternative routes to reach their destinations. The use of navigation apps has been recommended to stay updated on real-time traffic conditions.

The Margalla Enclave underpass is part of Islamabad’s broader urban development plan aimed at easing traffic congestion and improving connectivity in the city. Once completed, the underpass is expected to significantly reduce travel time and enhance traffic flow on Park Road, which serves as a major link between residential and commercial areas.

Residents and daily commuters have been requested to cooperate with traffic authorities and follow instructions issued by on-duty personnel. Islamabad Police have assured the public that every effort is being made to ensure safety, reduce delays, and complete the project within the stipulated timeframe.

Motorists are encouraged to stay informed through official police updates and local traffic alerts until construction work is completed and normal traffic movement is restored.
