Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi held an in-depth meeting with Bahrain’s Interior Minister General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa during his ongoing visit to the Kingdom. The discussion, confirmed through Naqvi’s official post on X, centred on strengthening cooperation across multiple security domains and advancing bilateral coordination.

Both sides exchanged views on regional stability, counter-narcotics strategies and the need for more structured information sharing between the two governments. Naqvi highlighted Pakistan’s commitment to enhancing the capacity of law-enforcement agencies, noting that collaboration with Bahrain can support long-term security objectives for both nations. He also expressed gratitude to his Bahraini counterpart for the warm welcome and reaffirmed the desire to deepen cooperation for a safer future.

The meeting comes at a time when Pakistan continues to navigate complex security challenges at home, making international partnerships vital for internal stability and counter-terrorism efforts. Naqvi emphasised that closer ties with Bahrain would help strengthen institutional frameworks and improve operational readiness in areas of mutual concern.

Shortly after the diplomatic engagement, Mohsin Naqvi issued a strong condemnation of the attack on a police checkpost in Hangu. The assault resulted in the martyrdom of three police personnel, an incident that drew widespread grief and renewed focus on the sacrifices made by Pakistan’s security forces.

In his statement, Naqvi expressed profound sorrow over the loss of the officers, praising their courage and steadfast dedication to duty. He extended condolences to the bereaved families and vowed that the sacrifices of the fallen would not be forgotten. The interior minister stressed that these acts of bravery reflect Pakistan’s unwavering resolve in its fight against terrorism.

Naqvi further acknowledged the exceptional sacrifices of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police, describing them as a frontline force in the ongoing battle against extremist threats. He noted that their consistent commitment continues to safeguard the nation despite persistent risks.

The twin developments — high-level security talks abroad and a tragic attack at home — underscore Pakistan’s dual challenge of strengthening international alliances while addressing domestic security concerns. Mohsin Naqvi’s statements highlight a clear message of resilience, cooperation and an unwavering pursuit of stability.
