Uzbekistan Airlines Launches Islamabad-Tashkent Route, Signaling Stronger Economic and Cultural Bonds

The aviation sector in Central and South Asia witnessed a significant development as Uzbekistan Airlines officially commenced its direct flights from Islamabad to Tashkent. The first flight, HY466, lifted off from Islamabad International Airport carrying 126 passengers and was met with celebrations that blended tradition, hospitality, and ambition.

The departure ceremony was staged with care at Zone 1 of the airport, where the environment was made festive with balloons, cultural décor, and a touch of elegance. A warm reception welcomed guests and travelers, setting the tone for what is projected to be a key player in regional connectivity.

A range of dignitaries were present to mark the occasion. Among them were ambassadors from four Central Asian countries and notable figures from Pakistan’s tourism and aviation sectors. The presence of international media highlighted the geopolitical and economic importance of this new flight route.

This direct connection will run every Saturday, joining existing Wednesday and Friday services to Lahore. It reflects Uzbekistan Airlines’ growing commitment to expanding its presence in Pakistan and offering new avenues for cooperation.

The Islamabad-Tashkent service is more than a transportation upgrade—it is a strategic link that supports cross-border tourism, academic exchanges, and commercial interaction. With iconic destinations such as Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva now just a flight away, Pakistani travelers will gain easier access to one of the most historically rich regions of Central Asia.

Industry analysts expect this flight to benefit sectors such as textile exports, pharmaceuticals, agribusiness, and digital logistics. The initiative is also being viewed as part of a broader effort to strengthen regional unity under the umbrella of the Central and South Asia Connectivity Initiative, reflecting mutual priorities in infrastructure, commerce, and cultural diplomacy.
