Chilly Blast Hits Karachi After Rainstorm

Karachi is feeling the bite of winter as a sudden cold snap follows a burst of heavy rain. Temperatures have dropped, with Sunday’s reading hitting a brisk 14°C. This chilly turn in the weather comes right after the city was lashed by heavy downpours and thunderstorms on Friday.

Several areas across Karachi experienced the downpour, including II Chundrigar Road, Saddar, Sarjani Town, Malir, North Karachi, and others.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), biting winds are sweeping in from the northwest at 16 kilometers per hour.

The forecast calls for dry, cold, and cloudy conditions for the next 24 hours. The low temperature dipped to 13°C today. Humidity currently sits at a low 28%, and the high for the day may reach between 24 and 26°C.

Rains Done, Cold Spell Brief

Weather expert Jawad Memon assures Karachi residents that the rain is over – those recent downpours were the last of the westerly weather system that passed through. Expect clear skies and dry weather with chilly nights.

Unfortunately, this wintery blast won’t last long. The cold winds blowing in from Quetta will probably only continue for a few more days, with wind speeds potentially reaching 30 to 40 kilometers per hour.
